Digital Age
Cameroon.js A JavaScript workshop organized by Digital Age in Cameroon. Why JavaScript?  The JavaScript language and ecosystem have both matured to a point that it is possible to develop an app for the web, smart phones and desktops all using the same code base. To quote Atwood’s law: “Any application that can be written in JavaScript, will eventually be written in JavaScript”. Now more than ever, the enthusiasm regarding JavaScript is great and the results are showy, with more and more of the most preferred apps on various platforms being written in JavaScript i.e. Atom, Visual Studio Code. Now more than ever, is the time to embrace this technological revolution of our era and take hold of the new powerful tools JavaScript has to offer. What shall you learn? The workshop walks you through the .exciting experience of developing your own web application. You shall setup a back-end infrastructure and pair it up with a user interface of your own craft. To accomplish the mentioned tasks, you shall make use of two powerful tools heavily used in web development: Angular and Node.js. Angular is a very successful client-side web framework developed and maintained by google. It is mostly used for creating single-page web applications but also performs well when developing smartphone apps. It supports internationalization, server-side rendering, service workers and features many more interesting options like pre-fetching and lazy-loading. Node.js is a JavaScript server side runtime environment built on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine which has proven itself a very powerful tool for developing back-end server applications. Node.js uses an event-driven, non-blocking I/O model that makes it lightweight and efficient. Node.js' package ecosystem, npm, is the largest ecosystem of open source libraries in the world. Last but not least, best practices and useful programming patterns shall be addressed over the whole workshop's course. The tutors: The tutors for this workshop are two experienced developers :
Steve Tchoumi Manuel Patchou
Junior Developer Student worker
Mobile web development Desktop & Mobile web development
